Faced with aging technology and rising processing and patient records requirements, this company was on the brink of disaster with their systems. Our initial meeting with the company principals revealed a nervous situation, with the network and server described as a "house of cards".

Our first order of business was to stabilize the environment. Updating the PCs with the latest Microsoft patches, installing current and updated McAfee Total Protection and consolidating the corporate data to ensure manageability provided a welcome measure of comfort. In addition, we implemented our DataPlanIT secure, online automated backup.

Once we were able to stabilize the network and systems, the project to renovate the network was underway. Complete cabling certification and rewiring of the wiring closet, along with replacement of older hubs with new Linksys GB network switches ensured consistent connections and GB network speeds.

With the new infrastructure in place, along with a stabilized and consistent work environment, we were able to manage the network and minimize downtime on the older equipment until the budget was ready for replacement PCs and server. Once the project was funded, a new Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 was installed, along with new Dell Optiplex computers.

The completion of this project was a major milestone for this company. Positioned for the future, they are now able to grow with the ongoing developments in the medical field.
